Volunteers are essential to operations at the Hayward Animal Services. There is lots to do in humanely caring for and placing over 6,000 animals per year. Without the volunteers, many shelter animals would never find a new home.
Here are just some of the volunteer opportunities: - socializing and playing with dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. - dog walker - kennel assistant - clean up, feeding animals, etc. - animal grooming - foster care - temporarily housing pets at your home - pet adoption outreach in the community and at special events - lost & found pet assistance.
To apply, you must:
If accepted as a Shelter volunteer, you will be invited to an orientation, and scheduled for an interview with the Volunteer Program Coordinator. A training program will follow.
