A Demolition Permit is required before removal may begin on a building, portion of a building or a structure.
A Demolition Permit may be issued at the Permit Center counter at time of submittal if all the required documents accompany the application.
Required documents include:
- plot plan showing location and dimensions of the structure to be removed
- “J” number from Bay Area Air Quality Management District for any structural elements being removed
- clearance from PG and E verifying all utilities have been disconnected
- Encroachment Permit for the capping of the sewer and/or water lines serving the property
A building can be ordered to be demolished if the structure is found to be unsafe and the owner has not taken action to repair it.
