A dedication may be required whenever a permit for the improvement or use of property is issued, as required in the Hayward Municipal Code. The purpose of the dedication is to provide adequate rights-of-way for development, including streets, easements, access relinquishments, and conservation easements.
The process takes about two weeks for the necessary documents to be prepared, signed and recorded. There is no charge.
Steps include:
- submittal of the deed of the property being improved, and development plans to the City Surveyor;
- signing of the Grant Deed by the applicant and its return to the City Surveyor for processing.
After recordation by the Alameda County Recorder, a record copy of the Grant Deed is mailed to the applicant.
