A Notary Public is generally available in the City Clerkâs Office weekdays, from 8 am to 5 pm for a variety of notary services. There is a fee for Notary Public services, generally not more than $10 per signature. Fees can be waived in cases of hardship.
A Notary Public is commissioned by the State of California, Secretary of State but is not authorized to provide legal advice.
Notary Public service requirements:
- Call ahead for an appointment
- Make sure that the signer of the document is present with a valid picture identification (California Driver's License or California Identification Card, or those issued by another State, or a valid Passport)
- Bring the documents to be notarized
- Be able to specify the type of service needed, i.e., acknowledgement (signature verification) or jurat (oath/sworn statement)
