Those hired as regular employees of the City of Hayward receive a variety of benefits. Following are the general benefits provided:

- retirement formula is calculated at 2.5% @ 55 for misc. employees and 3% @ 50 for public safety personnel

There is no Social Security enrollment except for mandatory Medicare contribution of 1.45%.
