Make a Service Request for:  Water Conservation

Hayward's wholesale water supplier, the San Francisco Public Utility Commission (SFPUC), asks customers to reduce water use by 10%.

WAYS TO CONSERVE WATER - Water Conservation Starts with YOU

1. H2ouse - Water Saver House provides simple and effective steps on how
to conserve water now and for the future.

2. Rebates
  • High Efficiency Toilet (HET) Rebates up to $150 for replacement of an existing 3.5 gallons per flush (gpf) toilet with a qualified high efficiency model.
Program has been extended to June 30, 2010

What are HETs? HETs are modern efficient toilets designed to use at least 20 percent less water than standard low flow toilets. HETs use 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf) or less. Although they use less water, they perform well.

This program offers a $150 rebate or up to the cost of the toilet, whichever is less, for the purchase of a new high efficiency toilet (HET) to replace an existing 3.5 gpf (or higher) model. Standard 1.6 gpf models do not qualify for a rebate.

The number of rebates are limited to:

      • 3 rebates per living unit (residential)
      • 10 rebates per account (commercial/industrial/ institutional)

      To qualify for a rebate:
      • Check your old toilet and determine its flush volume. Rebates are only offered for the replacement of an older inefficient toilet (using 3.5 gallons per flush or more) with a new HET.
      • Check the list of qualifying HETs before you buy - View the list. The exact toilet brand and model number (bowl and tank) must be on the list of qualifying toilets to be eligible for a rebate.
      • HETs must be purchased between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010. Toilet installation and application postmark must be completed within 90 days of purchase date.

Additional program eligibility rules and program details can be viewed on the program brochure and application form.

      To apply for a rebate:
      • Download and print the program brochure and application form.
      • Fill out the application form and mail it, along with the original receipt for your HET, to BAWSCA, 155 Bovet Road, Suite 302, San Mateo, CA 94402
      • Your application form will be reviewed and processed, and if approved, the rebate will be issued within about eight weeks after receipt of the application.
