The Fairview Fire Protection District has contracted with the City of Hayward since 1993 to provide fire protection and emergency medical services within the boundaries of the District. Under the contract, the City of Hayward takes care of weed abatement complaints within the District.
The Hayward Fire Department staffs two fire stations within the boundaries of the Fairview Fire Protection District:
- Fire Station 8 is located at 25862 Five Canyons Parkway, Castro Valley;
- Fire Station 9 is located at 24912 Second Street, Hayward
There is a minimum of three Firefighters at each location around the clock. At least one of the Firefighters at each station is also a Paramedic.
The Fairview Fire Protection District owns three firefighting vehicles, a 2004 Seagrave Type I pumper, a 2000 West Mark Type III pumper, a 2009 Ford four wheel drive pickup and a 2009 West-Mark Type IV Engine.
The Board of Directors of the District holds regular public meetings. These are usually held the last Monday of January, April, July, and October - 7PM at Fire Station 8. Special meetings are held as needed. Notice of meetings is published in the Community Calendar of The Daily Review.
