The City operates several housing rehabilitation programs:
- Minor Home Repair Grants of up to $2,000 for homeowners who are age 62 or older, or for homeowners who are persons with disabilities;
- Housing Rehabilitation Loans for homeowners who need to make home repairs that cost more than $2000; and
- Disability Access Grants and Loans to remove architectural barriers for persons with disabilities.
Eligible participants are property owners whose total household income is at or below 80% of area median income adjusted for household size for the Oakland CA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Eligible properties include: single family homes, duplexes (if one side is owner-occupied), and mobile homes/ manufactured housing on foundations.
Eligible repairs include: repairs needed to bring the property up to building and housing code standards and a limited amount of general property improvements.
