- Zone Change (Reclassification)
A zone change or reclassification is an action by the City Council to change the permitted uses on a particular parcel of land. A rezoning application is evaluated on the conformity with the General Plan, Neighborhood Plan, environmental impacts and other factors.
Reclassification may be initiated by the Planning Director, motion of the City Council or Planning Commission, or by an application signed by an owner or authorized representative of the property affected. An application for Reclassification cannot be reconsidered within one year from the date of the last official City Council action unless the Planning Director finds that new evidence or a change of conditions justifies reconsideration.
How to Apply for a Zone Change Application
A Zoning Text Amendment is an action by the City Council to change the regulations that govern a particular zoning district or other Zoning Ordinance regulations. For example, a Text Amendment may be used to change the types of uses allowed, or to change the regulations that govern the height, setbacks or lot coverage, for a particular zoning district.
Zoning Text Amendments may be initiated by the Planning Director, a motion of the City Council or Planning Commission, or by an individual.
