Hayward Police respond to close to 6,500 alarms a year. These include robbery, hold-up, panic, and duress alarms. About 97% are false alarms. That seriously impacts quick and efficient response to real emergencies. As a result, in March, 2006 changes were adopted to the Alarm Ordinance.
The new ordinance provisions not only inform alarm users and alarm companies about costly fines and other penalties, but also how to reduce false alarms.
