Police Officers and specially trained Crime Scene Technicians in the Crime Scene Unit handle the search for evidence at a crime scene. Once identified, the evidence (from fingerprints to the microscopic) is collected, preserved and analyzed.
Thereafter, the evidence is turned over to the Property and Evidence Unit. Property seized as evidence or collected for safekeeping may be released to the owner once all legal reasons for keeping the items are resolved.
