The Property & Evidence Unit is a warehousing operation that tracks, stores, and preserves evidence collected at crime scenes by investigators in the field. It also houses for safekeeping all property seized, found, or otherwise turned in to police personnel until the owner can be identified, notified, or cleared for the property’s return. Property seized as evidence or collected for safekeeping may be released to the owner once all legal reasons for keeping the items are resolved.
