Volunteers in Police Services or VIPS are residents who volunteer for the Hayward Police Department.
VIPS are involved in supporting a variety of departments such as:
District Operations Crime Prevention Special Duty Unit Downtown Safety Officer Property & Evidence Records Bureau
VIPS receive specialized training in their functional area. All VIPS are unpaid volunteers.
How Do I Apply to be a VIPS?
- Complete a VIPS application
- Bring or mail the completed application to:
Hayward Police Department 300 West Winton Avenue Hayward, CA 94544 Attn: Volunteer Coordinator
- Participate in an interview with the Police Department's Volunteer Coordinators
- Complete a background investigation including a no-cost fingerprint examination
