The Hayward Police Department has a variety of skilled positions associated with public safety. All positions are for permanent employment and subject to a full Civil Service testing process. All hiring decisions are contingent on the results of completed background investigation.

Applications are accepted only for currently available job openings. You can also create a profile at www.calopps.org and will be notified when job openings become available. Resumes are accepted only as part of an official job application submittal (City job application and supplemental questionnaire- depending on the position).

Police Human Resources not only manages the Police Department employment process, along with the City's Human Resources staff, but also does recruitment, specialized training, career enhancement programs, training needs assessment, and certificate and incentive programs.
