Requests for the installation of speed lumps on a City street are to be made in writing to the Transportation Manager. To request a speed lump, please fill out and submit a service request form located at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, you may also submit a written request. Speed lumps are installed once a year. The installations take several months to complete.
Your request should identify the block where the speed lumps are to be installed. In addition, please provide the street name, as well as the names of the two cross streets where the lumps would begin and end. If you prefer to send your request via the mail instead of utilizing the service request form link below, please send the letter to:
Don Frascinella Transportation Manager Engineering and Transportation 777 B Street Hayward, CA 94541 If the request falls within the Guidelines for Installation of Speed Lumps, the requester will receive an official petition form (identifying the specific location for the speed lump) on which to obtain signatures from property owners that will be affected by the installation of the speed lumps. It will be the responsibility of the requestor to obtain the appropriate signatures.
Approved speed lumps are then scheduled as part of the annual construction cycle.
