All street trees are planted and maintained by City staff. City staff routinely responds to requests for an inspection of a street tree for non-emergency reason (i.e., tree health evaluation, pruning, or tree removal).
Once the request is made:
- an inspection is conducted within two workdays of request at no charge;
- after the inspection a response form is mailed to the requestor that explains the conditions observed, the action that will be taken to correct the concern, and an estimate of when the work will be completed.
To request a non-emergency street tree inspection, please call Landscape Maintenance Division at 510-583-8906 or submit a request online.
Street Tree Emergencies: Please call the Landscape Maintenance Division at 510-583-8906 (weekdays between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Afterhours or on weekends, emergency calls should be made to the Hayward Police Department at 510-293-7000. If someone's life or health is endangered, please dial 9-1-1 immediately.
