There is a 24-hour a day response to hazardous tree conditions in a street or on a sidewalk. The focus of the emergency tree service is to clear the public right-of-way and remove any hazard to the public. If a tree emergency poses a threat to public safety or has harmed someone call 9-1-1 immediately.
The following are considered tree emergency situations:
- storm-damaged trees
- fallen trees or limbs
- cracked or hanging limbs.
Emergency tree services include:
- hauling away damaged City street trees and branches at no charge to the property owner;
- removing damaged and fallen trees planted on private property from the street and sidewalk. These are placed onto the adjacent private property for proper disposal by the property owner. In this case, the property owner will be billed for City expenses.
Service Contacts:
- If the emergency occurs weekdays, between 8:00am and 4:00pm, please contact the Landscape Maintenance Division at 510-583-8906.
- If the emergency occurs at other times or on holidays, call the Hayward Police Department at 510-293-7000. If someone is in danger or has been harmed, dial 9-1-1 immediately.
