The mission of the new Council Economic Development Committee (CEDC) would be to advise Council on factors affecting businesses in Hayward and the economic health of the community, including but not limited to business retention, business attraction, business development and design, growth of and activity in the Downtown and other business areas, and other factors affecting economic growth and vitality of Hayward. This would incorporate review of proposed projects that include commercial or retail aspects, or which should include those aspects, and review of planned business generating events. The CEDC would also act as a body to which staff could turn for in-depth discussion and input on business related issues as they are developing reports and recommendations for Council.
