Inspectors and detectives assigned to the Homicide and Assault Unit investigate the following types of cases:
Homicide and Deaths – cases include death from natural causes, as well as those caused by foul play, or for which a cause is not readily available. All cases that have yet to be resolved (“cold cases”) are continually assessed as new technology becomes available to evaluate evidence.
Hate Crimes – Hate crimes are crimes which are motivated in part or in whole by bias against a person or group’s race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, religious beliefs, age, disability, sexual orientation or political affiliation.
Felony Assaults – An attack upon someone by use of weapon or other force causing, or meant to cause, great bodily injury.
Missing Adults – Adults who are missing, either voluntarily or under suspicious circumstances; this includes kidnapping, false imprisonment and adult human trafficking.
