Specially trained Crime Scene Technicians in the Crime Scene Unit handle the detection, collection and preservation of evidence at crime scene. They process crime scenes using a variety of tools and technologies to protect the integrity of evidence items so they can be analyzed, lab tested if necessary, and used in court to help prove guilt or innocence. Once identified, the evidence (whether bulky or microscopic) is collected, preserved and analyzed it is processed at an office evidence processing center so it can be prepared for development, testing, or storage.
