2007 Bicycle Master Plan

In 2007, the City finalized an update to its Bicycle Master Plan. This revised Plan assessed existing bicycle facilities and programs; developed a community-supported direction for a comprehensive bikeway network that facilitated biking for transportation and recreational purposes by enhancing safety, comfort, and convenience of bicyclists; and identified bicycle support programs that promote biking through education, enforcement, and encouragement. The updated Plan also incorporated the proposed changes related to the Route 238 Corridor Improvement Project and studied potential bicycle pathways along the Union Pacific Railroad’s unused right-of-way as envisioned in the South Hayward BART study.
