Smoke Detectors

Working smoke detectors can greatly increase your chances of surviving a fire in your home or office.  The Stockton Fire Department offers a smoke detector program that is designed to install smoke detection devices in the homes of Stockton residents that currently do not have one.  To increase the chances of surviving a fire, we encourage all citizens to install and maintain approved smoke detection devises in each bedroom and on each floor level of their residence.

If you do not have a smoke detector, cannot afford one, or, if you have a smoke detector, but it does not work, the Stockton Fire Department will come to your home and ensure that you have a working smoke detector ABSOLUTELY FREE!

The smoke detector program is designed to ensure that smoke detection devices are installed in all residences, including those of senior citizens, disabled citizens, or persons living on a fixed income. Since the majority of fire deaths that occur in residential occupancies are caused by smoke inhalation, it is important that all Stockton citizens have the early warning a smoke detector can provide.

For more information or to participate in the smoke detector program, please fill out the service request form below, visit the Fire Prevention offices at 345 N. El Dorado Street, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or, call  (209) 937-8338.
