| The City of Huntington Beach has codes and ordinances regulating signs and sign placement. For approved signage, placement of signs, design and materials, contact the Planning Department at 714-536-5271.
A partial list of prohibited signs include:

A-frame signs (except in the downtown business district);

Any sign attached to a street sign, or traffic control device;

Signs posted in a street median;

Non-permitted banner or banners posted in tract corner landscape monuments;

Signs that produce smoke, fire, odor or other emissions;

Signs attached to animals or humans, or vehicle signs whose primary purpose is to serve as a non-moving display.
